For travel baseball families in Ohio, the calendar may say the season ends in summer, but player development never really stops.
At RSC Athletics Complex in Lancaster, Ohio, baseball and softball are becoming year-round sports. With five outdoor baseball fields and a new approximately 17,000-square-foot climate-controlled dome, RSC Athletics is building a destination where players can train, teams can practice, and games can be played regardless of what Ohio weather has in store.
The idea behind the complex is straightforward: Train when you want, play when you want.
For Travel Baseball Ohio families, coaches and organizations throughout Central Ohio, RSC offers something increasingly valuable — one location designed to support development and competition throughout the entire year.
Five Fields and a Dome
During the traditional spring and summer baseball seasons, RSC Athletics Complex features five outdoor baseball fields capable of hosting games, practices, tournaments and other events.
But anyone who has played baseball in Ohio knows the challenges that come with the weather. Cold temperatures can stretch well into the spring, rain can wipe out a weekend, and winter can make consistent baseball training difficult without the right indoor space.
That is where the RSC Athletics Dome changes the equation.
At approximately 17,000 square feet, the climate-controlled dome provides enough space for full-size infield work while also operating four batting cages at the same time. That flexibility gives coaches the ability to run multiple stations, work on different parts of the game and keep an entire team actively involved in practice.
Players can take ground balls, work through defensive situations, hit in the cages, complete throwing programs and focus on individual skill development — all without worrying about the temperature or forecast outside.
When the weather cooperates, teams can head outdoors. When winter arrives or bad weather rolls through, training can move inside.
It creates a true year-round baseball environment.
The Dome Is Open to Travel Teams
While the dome serves as the home training facility for RSC Athletics baseball and softball teams, access is not limited to RSC programs.
Other travel baseball and softball teams can rent the dome for practices, training and player development.
That makes RSC a resource for the broader Central Ohio baseball community.
Travel organizations looking for winter practice space, coaches wanting to schedule additional development sessions or teams needing an indoor option during unpredictable weather can utilize the facility without being part of the RSC program.
The goal is to create more opportunities for players to develop and more flexibility for coaches trying to build effective year-round training programs.
Development Comes First
Facilities are important, but RSC Athletics is ultimately about the players who use them.
The baseball and softball programs at RSC are built around three primary pillars: professional coaching, year-round training and tournament competition.
RSC teams train and compete out of the Lancaster complex, giving players a consistent home base for practices and development. Instead of treating indoor training as something separate from the regular season, the facility allows coaches to create continuity from winter preparation through spring and summer competition.
RSC also hosts tournaments, camps, clinics and individual training opportunities, creating additional ways for young athletes to develop their skills.
The focus is not simply on playing more games. It is about creating an environment where players can receive quality instruction, put in meaningful repetitions and continue improving throughout the year.
For families, that means having access to both a travel program and the facilities needed to support long-term development in one location.
A Major Expansion for Baseball
The dome represents part of a larger baseball expansion at RSC Athletics Complex.
Existing programs at the complex remain in place while additional capacity is being created for baseball and softball development, practices, games and events.
That growth positions RSC to become an increasingly important destination for travel baseball in Central Ohio.
The facility also includes amenities designed with tournament weekends and families in mind, including on-site concessions, a Pro Shop and a 14-stall heated and cooled restroom trailer.
Those details matter.
Anyone who has spent an entire weekend at a youth baseball tournament understands that the experience extends well beyond the field. Players, parents, siblings and coaches can spend hours — sometimes entire days — at a complex. Having convenient amenities on-site helps create a better experience for everyone.
Dome Grand Opening and Winter Baseball
RSC Athletics will officially introduce the new dome with Grand Opening Open Houses beginning Nov. 1. Open house opportunities can be booked through the RSC Athletics Complex Swift site.
The celebration continues with the Grand Opening Pro Camp on Nov. 14, providing players an opportunity to experience the facility while participating in a baseball development event.
Then the games begin.
Indoor dome tournaments start Dec. 5 and are scheduled for almost every weekend through early April.
That schedule creates a winter baseball option during a time when Ohio teams traditionally spend most of their time practicing indoors.
For teams looking for additional competition before the outdoor tournament season begins, RSC’s dome tournaments provide an opportunity to combine winter training with live game experience.
A Central Ohio Baseball Destination
Travel Baseball Ohio is built around connecting Ohio’s travel baseball community with teams, tournaments, facilities, resources and opportunities.
RSC Athletics fits directly into that mission.
For Central Ohio families, it provides a place where baseball does not have to stop when summer ends. For coaches, it offers additional training and rental options. For players, it creates more opportunities to develop. And for travel organizations, it adds another destination for tournaments, camps and events.
RSC isn’t trying to replace what already exists throughout Ohio’s baseball community. Instead, the complex is expanding the opportunities available in Central Ohio by bringing outdoor fields, indoor training, travel teams and events together at one location.
The vision is ambitious but simple: create one of the best places in Central Ohio to play, train and develop as a baseball or softball player — all year long.
As Michael Harvell “Bama,” Head of Operations and Director of Baseball & Softball at RSC Athletics, and his team continue building the program, the message to Ohio’s travel baseball community is clear:
There is always a place to play.
